Janice Temple
I BE KING DRIVE
at 90th Place. I be
Tuley Park with
tree-lined greenery
I be the South Side
of Chicago with
Red Line, Soul Train
I be Mother Eva
who spoke her mind
and gave them hell
I be my Grandmother
Temple, cooking and
baking in the kitchen
filling the house with
sweet sweet smells
of caramel cake
I be Father Robert
who infuses me with
Chicago history
and black jazz.
